History of the Briarwood Developments
Briarwood Park
Briarwood Park Condominium Association comprises 37 attached condominium luxury residences on 11.3 acres of land in North West Macomb County. The development began in 1999, and was intended to expand in multiple phases of attached condominiums to include all of the vacant land to the east and north bordering property.

Preserves of Briarwood
When the recession curtailed the building industry
, the Lochirco and Nino Homes Building companies secured approval from Shelby Twp. to develop the 79 acres to the east, as the Preserves of Briarwood in August 2011. This development was approved for special land use as a separate Association comprising 59 detached condominiums. These homes will be detached Condos and residents will own the land on which their home is built. As part of the approval from Shelby Twp., there were a number of stipulations included to address concerns raised by the residents of Briarwood Park. These stipulations included: 1) a second road constructed to Dequindre Road when 50% of the homes are completed to alleviate traffic on our roads, 2) completion of a temporary construction road to keep trucks off our streets, 3) an inspection of the drainage system to support the new development, 4) a revised traffic study to determine anticipated traffic volumes on Barberry Drive and Sandlewood, 5) a cost sharing arrangement between the Developments for maintenance and repairs for the roads located in Briarwood Park, and 6) an agreement by the Developer to annex the vacant land located on the north west corner of Barberry Drive as well as the land east of 2357 and 2372 Barberry Drive to the tree line.

Knolls of Briarwood
in 2013, Shelby Twp approved the Knolls of Briarwood, a community of 95 residences as site condos. This Lochirco and Nino Homes Building Company development, comprises 50 acres and borders directly our property to the north. This community will have their own Association and, different than our community, residents will each own the land on which their home is built. As part of this special land use approval from Shelby Twp and in response to concerns raised by the residents of Briarwood Park, the Developer agreed to 1) remove the connecting roads Greenleaf and Jade Drive to provide separation between our communities, and 2) provide a berm and trees on the northern most border of Briarwood Park to provide visual separation between the Briarwood Park and Knolls communities.

Briarwood Pointe
In 2019, Nino Homes Building Company established Briarwood Pointe Condominium Association, a community starting with 1 building with 3 units located on the land at the north west corner of Barberry Drive.  The plan is to expand this association using the land east of 2357 and 2372 Barberry Drive to the tree line with 7 additional buildings for a total of 27 units.  The buildings will be similar to Briarwood Park’s buildings/Units.  Briarwood Pointe is also part of the road cost sharing arrangement that was established between Briarwood Park and The Preserves of Briarwood in 2011.
